Sometime in the deep, dark, waning hours of 2003, Andy Scheffler and Rob Anand were pulling together their ideas for a new online music publication that was to keep itself to the left of mainstream music media. By the springtime of 2004, they had it. Cord Magazine. Here to stay.
Having forged relationships with local label representatives, concert promoters, and bands through her photography and journalism work, Andy was able to arrange high-profile artist interviews and live shows right off the bat. The sky was the limit. Writers came on board, the website grew, and yes, Cord even had a fancy launch party at the Media Club in Vancouver in April 2004. Take a look at photos from that event here. And Cord's biggest hit, with both bands and fans alike? The Cord Magazine Ten Questions feature, including the inter-band battle-making shark vs. bear query.
Now in its third year, Cord has polished itself up based on feedback and experience, and relaunched with even more articles and media than before. We love music... music loves us... viva la Cord.
Not only is Cord a bastion of musical news, knowledge, and insight, but we also know how to make things look pretty. Cord Magazine editor and handygal Andy is always available for creative services, in addition to just plain promoting the heck out of your band. Photography from live, to studio, to band promos, to CD cover work, and design services for posters, stickers, handbills, album art, logos, websites and merch, not to mention biography write-ups if you're in need of one - all of these things and more can be accomplished through Cord Magazine's Creative Services division. Email Andy for further information and to get the ball rolling. Your band is your life! Make it stand out!
