Cord Magazine Welcomes You With Open Arms.

I know what you're thinking.

Another music magazine?

Is that really necessary?

Actually, dear reader, maybe the answer is, in fact, "hell yes!" In the last five years the musical landscape has beautifully fallen apart. A scene which was, for a time, beginning to show wear from being painted either a dark black or a stark white has progressed into a scene which is now full of rich changing colour and inspiration. Cripes, it sounds Utopian doesn't it?

And, maybe it is. There's been a notable flood of bands, and a countless division and subdivision of genres in more recent times. If you spend enough time looking, you'll find and fall in love with the perfect band, the perfect sound, the perfect song, to match whatever it might be that you're feeling, whatever it might be that you're doing, whatever you might be going through.

That's where we come in. Consider Cord Magazine the kid who'd do your homework for you in high school. While you're stuck at football practice work, we're out writing about the shows we take in, the bands we meet, the music we hear, and detailing the little thoughts that glue these experiences together. We then compile all of this, and let you take it in... for free! And we'll do this for you day after day, night after night, week after week, month after month... well you get the point.

And we get the point too... yup, music is an art and a business. And we get that everyone - regardless if they know it or not - has an opinion on the music they hear and the marketing behind it. We know not everyone will agree. We're not here to notify you of what qualifies as "good music" and what qualifies as "bad music". We want to talk to you, not tell you what to think. We have little interest in being formal or overly intellectual about music. We want to appeal to music fans. We are music fans. We still get excited about bands we enjoy, and about discovering new music that turns us on. We have the ability to enjoy music because it makes us move, or makes us feel good, or affects us, without necessarily caring exactly why it does any of those things. We are not jaded (though maybe a bit cynical at times), and we feel no need to pander to the charts. We want to spread the word. We strive to be honest.

We're proud of the team we've assembled who will bring you the content on Cord. The duo which founded the magazine both share a passion for music culture, and in turn bring professional experience in illustrative media, web and graphic design, live concert photography, business development, sales and marketing, and professional writing. All this equates to a strong framework for success.

Although, we've spent months preparing for our first issue, and we're certain we've ironed out all the kinks and bugs, we realize this publication is a work in process. We want to hear from you, we want your input, we want to grow with you. As our contributors develop their own voice, we're certain our readers will identify with us and look to us as a valuable resource. Welcome to Cord Magazine. Plug in, and visit often. We know you'll want to stick around.
